When Did Member Jiyoon Leave and Why?
“Jiyoon ” ended Weeekly activities on June 1, 2022. In August 2021, two days before the comeback, Jiyoon suddenly suspended her activities due to psychological anxiety symptoms, and she took a break for about 4 months and devoted herself to treatment before returning to activities.
When preparing for the album, the symptoms recurred again, and on February 28, 2022, the second suspension of activities was announced. On June 1, 2022, IST Entertainment announced the withdrawal of Jiyoon on the official SNS.
“During this period of rest, Jiyoon herself, her family, a specialist, and our company have been carefully discussing the possibility of returning to activities while giving top priority to the artist’s condition. but we need an environment where Jiyoon can concentrate on her treatment. We agreed on the fact that there was a problem and that we must continue to focus on treatment in the future.”
After that, former member Shin Ji Yoon, who left Weeekly, said that it was not her intention to leave the group, saying, “It was not my decision to leave the group. It’s a sensitive topic, so I’m worried. I can’t go into details because of some things, but I definitely had anxiety, panic attacks, and depression when I took time off, but now I’m fully recovered and healthy.”
