Red Velvet Debut Song
Red Velvet released its debut song “Happiness” on August 4, 2014. At the time of its debut, the group consisted of four members: Irene, Wendy, Joy, and Seulgi.
Just two months after their debut, they released their 2nd single and made a comeback. After that, in March 2015, additional member Yeri joined Red Velvet with her first mini-album “Ice Cream Cake”.
As a result, Red Velvet, which became a five-member group, became even more attractive as a group and gained popularity with new performances!

Irene, who was scouted in 2009 and debuted as an SM Entertainment trainee for about 5 years, is the oldest member of Red Velvet and the leader of the group!
She has a shy personality and cannot smile when she meets someone for the first time. When member Joy first met Irene, she was a little scared, but once they get along, she seems to play innocent pranks like a child!
She likes to hold people’s arms and hands, and she’s not good at being alone, so she has a timid side. However, despite her fear of heights, she loves the thrill of riding roller coasters!

Seulgi passed the “Saturday Public Audition”, which is known as a difficult SM audition, and became an SM Entertainment trainee in 2007. After about seven years of training, she made her debut as a member of Red Velvet.
Actually, her father applied for the audition. She said that her father, who had a dream of becoming a singer in the past, wanted her daughter who loves singing and dancing to have a chance, so she applied.
However, since she didn’t hear from her for about a year after participating in the audition in 2006, she thought she had failed, but she got a call saying she had passed!
Her hobby is drawing, and she surprises everyone around her by showing off her drawing skills on variety shows. In addition to drawing pictures, she also has knowledge of art and has a detailed side of the painter’s work.

In the middle of the fifth grade of elementary school, she left South Korea, where she was born and raised, and moved to Canada. Therefore, she is fluent in English and can speak French, Spanish, etc. as well as Korean.
Wendy, who dreamed of becoming a singer since she was little, became an SM Entertainment trainee through the SM Global Audition held in Canada in 2012. After becoming a trainee, she became a public trainee as SM Rookies and debuted with Red Velvet after about 2 years of trainee period!
She is also good at cooking and her hobby is making sweets! At a fan autograph session, Wendy even handed out sweets made by her to fans! In addition to being good at cooking, she is also called as RedVelvet’s father and mother because she can clean, operate machines, catch bugs, and repair things.

Unlike other members, Joy debuted as a private trainee for about 2 years and 6 months. She became an SM trainee in 2012 through SM Global Audition in Seoul!
When she was a trainee, she didn’t smile much and wasn’t good at being charming, so she started by practicing “smiling” at first. For that reason, her stage name was named JOY by a vocal trainer so that she could have a good time!

Yeri is the youngest (maknae) member of Red Velvet and a member who joined Red Velvet halfway through the album activities of “Ice Cream Cake” released in March 2015!
Before Red Velvet’s debut, SM Entertainment did not have any additional debut members after the group’s debut, so Yeri became the “first member who joined the agency midway”.
SM Entertainment’s senior group “Girls’ Generation” is an idol group that Yeri was a fan of and the reason she dreamed of becoming a singer!
