How to Read and Origin of ITZY
If ITZY is written in Hangul, it will be “있지”.
Judging from the Korean pronunciation, the pronunciation is similar to “Icchi”, but at the beginning of its debut, Japanese fans called ITZY “Icchi”, and it spread with that name.
However, the debut of ITZY in Japan has made it clear that ITZY’s official Japanese pronunciation is “Itchi”.
Since the announcement was made while the reading of “Icchi” was spreading, the fans seemed confused about how to read it, but the nickname given to the group by the fans is the name that has permeated. Therefore, it can be said that the reading of “Icchi” is not a mistake.

ITZY Debut Date
ITZY debuted on February 12, 2019, with the digital single album “IT’z Different”.
The MV for the title song “DALLA DALLA” uploaded to Youtube recorded 10 million views in just 18 hours after its release!
It seems that ITZY is the first K-POP debut group to surpass 10 million views within 24 hours!
After that, about 14 million views were recorded in one day after the MV was released! It has become a group that attracted a lot of attention at the time of its debut, with about 33 million views in just two days.
Also, as a K-POP debut group, they achieved over 100 million views on the 57th day, which was the fastest record at that time.
Japan Debut of ITZY
ITZY made its Japanese debut by releasing their Japanese debut album “IT’z ITZY” on December 22, 2021.

Yeji is the oldest member of the group and the leader of ITZY.
Yeji is gaining a lot of support for her lively performances due to her cool appearance, high dance skills, and powerful dance moves! From the beginning of ITZY’s debut song “DALLA DALLA”, you can feel the energy of “It’s starting now!” with Yeji’s solo dance!
Yeji has attractive dance skills and is active as a member of a popular K-POP group, she originally hated dancing. When she was in elementary school, her older sister suggested that Yeji should start dancing to support their parents, and it seems that dancing became her hobby eventually.

Lia is called a sleeping princess, who seems to sleep even when the lights are on and she doesn’t wake up even if she is carried when she is asleep.
When she was a trainee, she slept on the train after school and slept soundly at a cafe near her company. Chaeryeong, who goes to work with her, even went out of her way to come to the café to wake up, sleep with Lia, and go to work together!

ITZY’s youngest (maknae) member Yuna is a lively and good member who can be said to be younger than she looks.
She likes pranks, and when the members are quiet, she suddenly starts singing, so she’s energetic! She has the cuteness of a child and is good at spoiling the members.
She has a bright personality and is said by the members to have “the energy to make things better when she’s around”, so she’s an indispensable part of ITZY.
Before becoming a trainee, she played a sport called “Floorball”, which is not familiar in Japan, from the 5th grade of elementary school to the 8th grade of junior high school.
It seems that her ability was such an excellent player in the team that she won the city and prefectural tournaments! The Korea Floorball Association expresses its appreciation that “Floorball became known thanks to YoonA”.
